Costumer for Plays and Projects

Jenna Bergstraesser

Email: jennabergstraesser@gmail.com

Website: jennaillustrates.com

I’m Jenna Bergstraesser, a costume designer and artist who has just moved to the NoHo Arts District, where I heard about your fantastic theatre.  I'm writing because as a freelance designer, I would love to work with you as a Costume Designer, ACD, or graphic artist for future shows. I know you are mainly an actor training studio, but I wanted to reach out in case you had a need of a designer or artist for any upcoming productions!

I am used to creatively designing costumes for small budgets, but have the refined design sensibility, professionalism, and positivity gained by working at Disneyland as a designer for many years.  At Disney, in my role first as Graphic Artist I designed all of the textiles for many shows and cast members at the parks worldwide, including Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.  I was promoted to Costume Designer in recognition of my creatively innovative work on those projects, and starting in my first week, I took on three full-scale shows (a 70’s glam punk-inspired dance show, a Halloween Costume Party show, and an authentic Polynesian storytelling show), researching, designing, pitching to executives, and managing production simultaneously. I am used to keeping organization and positivity in this fast-paced, complex environment.

I continued that work until I left Disney in the fall of 2021 to pursue freelance design full time.  Since then have designed for the upcoming feature film “The Head of John the Baptist”, with costumes spanning from contemporary to Renaissance to biblical and many practical effects, the short film “Nahual” with an indigenous cast and shapeshifter character, and two webseries, along with artistic design work for two international theme parks.  I am also a freelance artist, specializing in digital illustration, should you have future publicity design needs.  I have designed many theatrical posters over the years.

Bob (A Dead American CEO)

Principal Non Union Shoot $750, Buyout Rate $10,000 Travel and down days $500

Man 45 - 65 Any Ethnic Appearance

Bob is a dead American CEO. He’s been dead for about 20 years.

He’s got the gravitas of an old-school titan of industry, but death has also mellowed him out, he has evolved slightly and sees things from a fresh perspective. What he lacks in functioning organs and bone density, he makes up for in charisma and personality.

For the shoot you would be dressed in character with heavy FX/makeup/ prosthetics (as a dead decomposing body come back to life).

MUST BE A FIT AND SLENDER TYPE - the shoot is going to be fairly busy with heavy prosthetics and makeup.

NEED TO BE GOOD WITH COPY.

GOOD WITH IMPROV AND SUBTLE COMEDY.

NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO MOVE WELL, DANCE AND SING A LITTLE WHILE WEARING PROSTHETICS AND MAKEUP.

MUST NOTE THAT YOU HAVE A HAVE A VALID PASSPORT TO BE CONSIDERED. IMPROV AND COMEDY NOTES ARE HELPFUL TOO.

Allen (a born-follower corporate employee)

Principal Non Union Shoot days: $750 Buyout Rate: $5,000 Travel and down days $500

Man 50 - 67 Any Ethnic Appearance

A man in his 50’s- 60s, with the sense of a born follower. He rose up through the company by following Bob’s blueprint, rather than being an innovator himself, and is almost in awe of Bob — even if he’s looking the worse for wear these days.

He has to be funny without actually doing too much. Slightly neurotic, constantly worried about something - even when there is nothing to worry about.

Think someone like Frank from Succession.

Does not need to be a handsome businessman. He can appear as if stress and worry have taken a toll on his visage over the years. He is the chrony to Bob and should feel a bit more meek and less sure of himself than Bob.

SHOULD BE GOOD WITH IMPROV AND SUBTLE COMEDY.

NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO MOVE WELL AND SING A LITTLE.

MUST NOTE THAT YOU HAVE A HAVE A VALID PASSPORT TO BE CONSIDERED.

Francine (ambitious executive)

Principal Non Union Shoot $750, Buyout Rate $5,000 Travel and down days $500

Woman 35 - 55 Any Ethnic Appearance

Francine is an ambitious exec, someone who only knows Bob by reputation, a go-getter, embracing the modern ways wholeheartedly. She is bright, charismatic and must have a comedic side to her. Someone who can be funny without doing much. Think Britt Lower from Severance.

SHOULD BE GOOD WITH IMPROV, SUBTLE COMEDY, DANCING AND SINGING.

THAT YOU HAVE A HAVE A VALID PASSPORT TO BE CONSIDERED.

Work Requirements

Shoot dates are July 26-31 - 6 Days.
